Van Gogh and the Sunflowers

This is an amazing app with a number of cool features. First you have the story of the artist with beautiful illustrations. If you want the app will read the story for you which will help children who struggle to read.

The next cool feature is the ability to repaint the pictures using the art art pen pad so your children can create their own interpretation of the scenes.

As the story progresses you collect Van Goghs paintings and store them in a virtual art gallery which gives the children an interesting way to examine his art and provides grounds for great class discussion.

The very clever part of this app is its potential for DT. Where you see a moving picture you can press the screen which turn the movement into a cardboard reconstruction of all the fears, leavers and pivots you need to recreate the scene. This is totally amazing and the children can experience putting each model together.

The potential in this cheap app is amazing it provides a number of cross-curricular activities for teachers to experiment with and ideas to develop. Download the lite version and have a play. Let me know what you think.
